Who We Are
TLC Accounting Services, (TLC) specializes in performance auditing, strategic planning, and training services. This woman-owned and operated company was established by native Washingtonian Ms. Tonya Crawford. TLC offers traditional accounting services with a strong focus on solving organizational problems of non-profit and local governments.
The TLC Community Cycle Sets Us Apart
A cornerstone of TLC’s business philosophy is the Community Cycle, which encompasses local development, employment, and community service as priorities in both our daily actions and long-term business strategy. We prosper by delivering quality service and actively taking care of our community.
Our Community Cycle requires us to:
Develop non-profit and governmental partnerships to strengthen service to the local community.
Employ members of the local community through consultant, permanent and temporary job contracts.
Serve the local community through active volunteerism, including training the youth and small business owners.
Tonya Crawford
FOUNDER
Born and raised in the Nation’s Capital, Tonya holds a strong love and respect for her community and city. Early in her career, she earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in accounting from Norfolk State University (NSU) and worked for Black Entertainment Television (BET) in its Travel and Expense department before becoming a Peace Corps volunteer in sub-Saharan Africa. Those international travel and development experiences proved valuable in earning her MBA from the University of the District of Columbia and subsequently becoming an Adjunct Professor in its School of Business. Displaying leadership, resourcefulness, and a passion for social impact she focused her attention to the field of auditing and worked in the local government, non-profit, and federal government sectors.
As a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and while serving as a Quality Assurance Specialist with DC government, Tonya saw a substantial need to develop a culture of value and compliance particularly where accountability was reactionary; thus the development of TLC Accounting Services (TLC). The mission of promoting independent analyses of fiscal, efficiency, and performance activity in the local business, non-profit, and governmental communities became Tonya’s motivation. It is TLC’s vision to become a leader in performance auditing services and provide the most respected and comprehensive services to those who only want the best for themselves and their communities.
